Week 1
Chief of Police Hayden, SLMPD Academy staff, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homicide, Police Union, City staff, etc. were all coming in each day of that week to remind us of who they are, juxtaposed to who we are. To be quite honest, I want to drop a judgment bomb. The facts and objectives of law enforcement remain the exact same way they were in England in 1822, developed in part by Sir Robert Peel. Can we reasonably go about defending the Constitutional rights of citizens, while upholding Peelian Principles? Here are Sir Robert Peel’s guiding thoughts: To prevent crime and disorder, as an alternative to their repression by military force and severity of legal punishment.
